The script is based on Kim Barker’s book and is written by Robert Carlock, who is also known for “30 Rock”. According to the script, we can say that the story of the film will revolve around a journalist’s life in Afghanistan and Pakistan, dealing with different difficult situations, interacting with politicians and soldiers, and covering the story of war between US and Taliban. Tina provided the option to use the book and joined forces with her long-time partner Carlock to come up with perfect adaptation.
According to the Synopsis of the book, Kim Barker hardly possessed a passport when she initially reached Kabul in 2002. She didn’t know any other language except English and had no concept regarding “Taliban Shuffle” between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Notwithstanding—her tales on the subject of Islamic activists and unstable reform were almost immediately eclipsed by the bigger news in Iraq. But as she explored deeper into the matters and cultures in Pakistan and Afghanistan, she felt more affection for the both unfortunate countries, but her fright for the imminent prospects of both countries also increased.
In this intriguingly humorous and bountiful chronicle, Kim uses her sardonic, insightful tone to reveal the fatuities and calamities of the war on terror, which has totally changed the fate and future prospects of people of both countries. Such dark comedy amid war on terror, Tina Fey is perfect choice due to her wry and witty personality, as we have witnessed in her various TV shows, particularly in Golden Globes opposite Amy Poehler.
Tina Fey currently did a cameo in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues starring Will Farrell. She is recently working on “30 Rock”, which she also wrote and directed. In the future, we will see her in upcoming films including Muppets Most Wanted and This Is Where I Leave You.
