After making her name in several Hollywood films, the singer and actress Jennifer Lopez is going to be involved in some drama with NBC. She has been announced to not only play the role as a cop but also to work as the executive producer of the TV show “Shades of Blue,” which has got a 13-episode, straight-to-series order from the channel. The TV show will be written by Adi Hasak, who is well-known for “From Paris with Love” and recently released film “3 Days to Kill”. Production is projected to be started next year.
Lopez will play the role of Harlee McCord, a divorced mom and detective who is assigned to complete specific objectives as an undercover cop for the FBI’s anti-corruption squad. Part of a supportive unit recognized for its conviction record, McCord turns out to be much conciliated by her partners — all of whom also assisted her to raise her daughter. After many undesirable events, Harlee had to deal with the ethical quandary of pursuing some cases against her colleagues so as to redeem her own image.
“Whether its producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we’re delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke.
NBC hasn't been hesitant about carrying out something that is difficult to do for most other networks. Jennifer has been confidant as part of the refurbished "American Idol" judging board a few months back, appearing again on the show after a time period of more than a year. She has not worked on a normal TV show after "Hotel Malibu" that was launched in 1994. She is currently working on three other projects including Charles Stones’ “Lila & Eve”, Tim Johnson’s animated adventure film “Home”, and Rob L. Cohen’s thriller “The Boy Next Door”.
In the Hollywood, Lopez got her first debut role as Karen Sisco in Steven Soderbergh's Crime Romance “Out of Sight” in 1998, opposite George Clooney and Don Cheadle. This film helped Loped land in various other film projects as well as TV series. She recently appeared in Taylor Hackford’s Action Crime Thriller “Parker” opposite Jason Statham. She has also appeared as Cameo in various renowned TV shows including “How I Met Your Mother”.
