Tom Hiddleston to Star in J.G. Ballard’s epic British thriller “High-Rise”

Tom Hiddleston, who is very famous around the world as his DC comic character “LOKI”, has been announced to play the lead role in Ben Wheatley’s “High-Rise”, which is an adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s epic British thriller. Jeremy Thomas, who earlier produced “Crash”, has been announced to produce “High-Rise” with help of Recorded Picture Company. He currently also produced Jim Jarmusch’s “Only Lovers Left Alive” starring Hiddleston, who will appear in his upcoming film “Crimson Peak” directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Wheatley is considered as one of the best British directors and is widely known for his challenging motion pictures like “Sightseers”, “Down Terrace”, “Kill List” and “A Field in England.” He is presently working on a latest season of famous TV show “Doctor Who” for the BBC.

“I am very excited to be working with Tom Hiddleston on this project. He is the perfect Laing to me. He brings an intelligence, vulnerability and humor to his roles, be they art-house or blockbuster that will make Laing come alive. It’s also a great privilege to be working with Ballard’s seminal book,” Wheatley said.

The story of “High-Rise” revolves around a new suburban tower constructed on the eve of Thatcher’s England, at the location what turns out to be a financial center of the world in future. Made as a lavish key to the all the issues of the town, it is a very much alienated by conflicting mind-sets, requirements, views, or natures. In such circumstances, the story of a young doctor Robert Laing (which will be played by Tom Hiddleston) begins. He is seduced by the high-rise and its maker, the futurist designer Anthony Royal. He finds out a world of multifaceted reliabilities, and also starts a relationship with faithful assistant Charlotte of Anthony Royal.

Judging conflict among the residents, Laing gets together with Wilder, a compelling agent provocateur determined in stirring the state of affairs. Wilder introduces Laing into the secret days of the high-rise and Laing is stunned at the aspects he observes. When the tenants force an entry in clannish groups, Laing gets stuck amid rising brutality, which he discovers increasing in himself as well.

“I can’t wait to work with Ben. He is one of the most inspired directors in the U.K., and he brings with him impeccable taste, courage, wit and singular brilliance: the perfect combination to realize the ambition of J.G. Ballard’s unique vision”, the 32-years-old actor Tom Hiddleston said.
