Hugh Jackman to Play Villain Blackbeard in Warner Bros. Film Pan

It has been confirmed that X-Men star Hugh Jackman has made an agreement to play the role of pirate Blackbeard in Warner Bros. upcoming film “Pan” that will be directed by Joe Wright. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Garrett Hedlund is also under consideration to play the role of Captain Hook. Previously, Javier Bardem was in talks with Warner Bros. to play the role of Blackbeard, but he turned it down due to busy schedule and then WB pursued the Australian Actor Hugh Jackman. The hunt for the actor to play the role of Peter Pan is still underway. As per some media reports, Ryan Gosling was considered for this role but he has already turned it down.

"I'm very excited. I love it. I love the director Joe Wright, I love working with Warner Bros. and I think this is just really exciting. It's a very cool project. And it's wonderful for my kids!" Hugh Jackman said.

In spite of being an Oscar-nominated star, the 45-years-old actor has described that he will never live through his excellent fortune. While Jackman has an image of playing positive heroic roles and has never done a negative role or villain, he has shown the skills to undertake this challenge. His current work in Warner Bros.’ film “Prisoners” is highly admired by critics and though he is not playing negative role in it, the part is extremely tense as compared to his other roles, even that of the Comic Book Hero “Wolverine”.

“Hugh Jackman always delivers indelible performances that resonate with audiences, we know he will create a Blackbeard who will be a powerful presence in this original Peter Pan adventure”, Greg Silverman, Warner Bros. President of Creative Development, said about the Jackman’s acting skills.

The script will be written by Jason Fuchs, who is well-known for writing scripts of a number of TV shows such as The Good Wife, Law and Order and The Sopranos. As per the script, an orphan is taken to the supernatural world of Neverland, where he turns out to be the rescuer of the local residents and directs a revolt against the wicked pirates of Blackbeard.

The film is still untitled, but it does have a July 17, 2015 release date after it was moved previous week to get slot formerly held by the Superman vs. Batman in order to keep Pan from being sandwiched between Terminator reboot and Ted 2.
