True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard, The Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie, Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz and Avengers star Samuel L. Jackson are in talks to play lead roles in Warner Bros’ remake of “Tarzan”, which will be adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ series of novels and will be directed by David Yates, who is known for Harry Potter franchise.
Jerry Weintraub and Alan Riche are announced to be the producers of the film, while Mike Richardson and Yates will be executive producers. This is great news for a project that has been waiting for a go-ahead for quite a long time and needs to be brought to life again. Just seven days prior to the Thanksgiving celebration, studio executives watched a 5 minute pre-viz video which Yates made to elaborate how the project could produce.
The holdup, in fact, turned out productive in casting choice, as Samuel L. Jackson had shown interest in the film role since the project’s initial days of execution, but only problems was with scheduled dates. So, Warner Bros contacted Jamie Foxx, but when production was delayed, Jamie had to pass as well.
Warner Bros looks about to give the project a go-ahead and will rely on Australian actress Margot Robbie to play the female lead “Jane”. According to various media sources, Robbie has edged out Emma Stone to grab the role. She did so for the second time, as first time she had beaten Emma for the role in comedy film "Focus" opposite Will Smith, at the start of this year.
The story of the movie will revolve around the character of John Clayton III (Skarsgard), who is orphaned as a baby, grows up in the forest among animals, becomes the famously known Tarzan, meets love of his life Jane and then returns to London. He is asked by Queen Victoria to look into the questionable activities in the Congo. He joins forces with an ex-mercenary George Washington Williams (Samuel) to save the Congo from a violent military leader who has occupied an enormous diamond mine.
2016 is turning out to be most important or big year for Warner Bros, as various mega-budget movies including “Batman vs Superman” are scheduled to be released in that year. Now, through a press release, the film Tarzan has also been announced to hit the theaters in July 2016.
So, are you excited to see big stars in the mega-budget reboot of “Tarzan”?
