Beautiful White Horse of Gandalf from “Lord Of The Rings” Has Died

In films and TV shows, we often see and admire animal actors (like horses, dogs) that sometimes turn out to be as well-known as (and in exceptional cases, even more admired as compared to) the humans. There is something special about animals like horses and dogs for which they are frequently used for the right role in show business. Appearances of such animals (in most of cases) make a movie or TV show work even better than it would with just any man or woman cast. Do you think Will Smith’s “I am Legend” would have been same classic film without the role of his German Shepherd Dog? Definitely not. The dog not only fought to save life of his human counterpart, but he also made audiences cry when he had to be killed due to virus infection.

One such animal in an iconic role was a beautiful white horse in Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The fans of LOTR know the horse as Gandalf’s noble steed Shadowfax. The horse was also called as Blanco that accompanied Gandalf in various battles against the evil forces. This animal actor had been in bad health condition since several weeks, and now it is sad to announce that the gorgeous white horse has died a few daYs ago. Official website The One Ring has also shared a statement regarding this news from horse’s trainer, Cynthia Royal.

Cynthia told about horse's sickness that became significantly dangerous over few weeks. “He was suffERing from extremely serious issues with his intestinal tract and liver", she said.

The last few days of horse’s life were not all critical though, as Royal talked about a day out of his improVing health when he looked like same healthy horse as he appeared in film. Unluckily, prior to having opportunity to bring him home for his improvement, his health got worsened very quickly. He was put to sleep, while Cynthia sat beside him to relieve him.

Blanco has given an unforgettable performance together with his human counterpart Ian McKellen (Gandalf), and his bequest will always be remembered by LOTR fans AND remain everlastingly in a series of iconic movies. Of course, he will really be remembered, not for his beauty, but also amazing performance in the film. We are expecting to hear something from Sir Ian Mckellen on this sad death of his animal counterpart.

May he rest in peace.
