Sherlock Star Benedict Cumberbatch to Take a Lead Role in film “Blood Mountain”

Now that Sherlock Season 3 alongside Martin Freeman is proceeding with full action, Benedict Cumberbatch can bring his strong appearance and unique accent back to the motion picture. It has been announced that 37 years old star will take a lead role in the action thriller “Blood Mountain,” which Altitude Film Sales is prepared to market to global dealers at the European Film Market in Berlin. The film will be directed by Sergei Bodrov, while Lawrence Bender and James Gibb have been announced to produce it. The script is written by Jonathan W. Stokes and John Romano.

It has not been confirmed whether or not the movie title denotes the mountain peak on the Appalachian Trail. However, as per the synopsis, the film plot revolves around a classified armed contractor, whose Special Forces squad is bushwhacked and murdered during a clandestine incursion, as a result pushing him to singlehandedly capture and bring one of the most wanted terrorists worldwide over intimidating land so as to bring him to justice. With a reward on terrorist’s head and rebels and opponent mercenaries furiously hunting him down to get reward, he not only has to fight with his enemies, but also has to protect the terrorist from all enemies.

As the story continues, it becomes more intense and thrilling, and it is extremely pleasing to watch Cumberbatch going through a wide variety of film projects with different roles. If you have seen Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak starring Tom Hiddleston who replaced Cumberbatch in the film, then don’t get confused, as “Blood Mountain” is not a remake or any kind of sequel of Crimson Peak.  This film is a new thriller with completely different story and John Romano’s revisions.

Cumberbatch, who recently played important roles in two different films – The Hobbit and 12 Years a Slave, will also appear as Alan Turing in Morten Tyldum’s drama thriller “The Imitation Game”, and James Gray’s much anticipated adventure biography “The Lost City of Z.” There rumors that he will also appear as lead character in Doug Liman’s drama history film Everest.

The movie will be financed by Silver Reel with the association of UTA Independent Film Group, while the film production is projected to begin in April in Morocco.

So, what are you views about it? Are you excited to see Cumberbatch in yet another action thriller “Blood Mountain”?
