Gravity Actress Sandra Bullock and Pop star Justin Timberlake stole the 40th People's Choice award show by grabbing more than one awards in the film and music category respectively. The 49-year-old actress won 4 awards for favorite movie actress, dramatic movie actress and comedy movie actress for her brilliant performance in space drama "Gravity" and in comedy film "The Heat". In addition, Bullock and George Clooney grabbed the favorite movie duo award, while “Gravity” won favorite drama film award.
"An actor can't do what they do without hundreds of amazing people working for them and alongside them. I learned so much this year. I got to work with Melissa McCarthy on 'The Heat.' ... And on 'Gravity,' the nicest people in the world would string me up and leave me there, and I still had an amazing time," Bullock said.
After being away for over 5 years to concentrate on his acting, the 32-year-old singer and actor Timberlake prevailed the music categories by winning 3 awards for Favorite Male Artist, Favorite R&B Artist and Favorite Album for his latest album "The 20/20 Experience". However, pop star Britney Spears won her first People's Choice award, edging Timberlake out in the favorite pop artist category. It was first award of Spears during her long 15 years’ career.
"I'd like to thank my parents for continuing to instill in me that no dream is too big. I'd like to thank my team that puts up with my ridiculous neuroses all the time - sorry, but not really, because look at this," Timberlake said on stage.
"Iron Man 3" won two awards for favorite movie and favorite action movie, while Robert Downey Jr. won award for favorite action movie star.
Adam Sandler remained favorite comedic actor at People's Choice awards, winning for 4th successive time for his performance in film "Grown Ups 2". The famous actors Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio also won awards for Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Dramatic Movie Actor respectively. While, Despicable Me 2 was named for Favorite Family Movie of the year.
The People's Choice awards are given as per the online voting by fans. Voting is carried out for 58 categories including movie, TV and music. According to the officials, above 700 million votes were casted in 2013. The ceremony was held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and it was shown live on the CBS network, starting Hollywood's yearly awards period that finally ends with the Oscars on March 2.
