Rita Ora, the 23-year-old British singer-songwriter who is famous for her chart topping songs “R.I.P.” and “How We Do”, will be joining the cast of Fifty Shaded of Grey as Christian Grey’s sister Mia. The erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey, penned by E.L. James, was the inspiration for the film.
"It's official!" Ora wrote to her fans on her Twitter account Monday, December 2. "I've been cast in @FiftyShades of Grey as Christian's sister Mia."
Although she had a small cameo appearance in Fast & Furious 6 and has played other minor parts, she’s never played such a major character. Ora’s big role debut as the bubbly, outgoing sister of Christian Grey, couldn’t have happened in a more highly-anticipated movie. Fans are waiting with baited breath to see the movie version of the book they love so much. Her fans seem to be excited about her getting the role, with one fan tweeting “Can’t wait to see you act again!”
Fifty Shades of Grey started filming on Sunday, December 1, in Vancouver. Dakota Johnson, who stars as Anastasia Steele, was spotted with her co-star Jamie Donan sipping tea while filming a scene in a coffee shop. Jamie Dornan has landed the role of billionaire Christian Grey. Other actors in the film include Aloise Mumford as Anastasia’s best friend Kate, Luke Grimes as Christian’s brother Elliot, Victor Rasuk as Anastasia’s friend Jose, Max Martini as Christian’s bodyguard Jason Taylor, and Jennifer Ehle as Anastasia’s mother Carla. The movie, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, will be hitting theaters February 13, 2013 as opposed to the previously announced date of August 1, 2014.
