Two days after the confirmed death of Fast and Furious co-star Paul Walker, his co-star and friend Vin Diesel posted some heartwarming tributes to the deceased actor on Diesel’s Facebook page on Monday, December 2.
He chose a quote from Thomas Campell to share with his fans in Walker’s honor: "To live in the hearts we leave behind, is not to die."
“Pablo, I wish you could see the world right now... and the profound impact, your full life has had on it, on Us... on me... I will always love you Brian, as the brother you were... on and off screen,” Diesel continued, referencing Walker’s character Brian from the Fast and Furious movie franchise that they both starred in.
Diesel shared a touching picture of himself and 40-year-old Walker smiling at each other to the comment. The grieving 46-year-old actor also put up a new cover photo with a happy image featuring himself, Walker, and their Fast and Furious co-star Jordana Brewster greeting fans excitedly at a Hollywood awards show. The image is full of life and joy, a fitting way to remember Walker.
After attending a private memorial service for Walker on Monday night, Diesel went to the site of the deadly car crash that claimed his friend’s life in Sanda Clarita, California. When he arrived, he used a police speaker to address fans who had gathered to hold vigil, and thank them for their support. Clad in a jacket and hoodie, he addressed the crowd:
"I just want to say to all of you, if my brother were here right now and he saw all of the love you are bringing here," said Diesel. "If he could see for himself that all of you have shown up to show my brother love… at this hard time his family gets to see all of you show the love that you've shown Paul. It's going to stay with me forever. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciate him."
The crash site area was shut down by police to accommodate the memorial service for Walker’s colleagues and friends. The service happened on Monday between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
