Karl Urban Wants “Dredd” Sequel and Requests Fans to Sign a Petition

It is said that actual fans are those who intensely love and share what they admire no matter what happens. They never let go what they love, even despite ostensibly definite letdown. This is the reason that a large number of fans are very excited about the initiative of a “Dredd” sequel, in spite of the fact that Lionsgate has not many grounds to pursue this project. After the huge success of “Dredd” starring Karl Urban as Judge Dredd and Lena Headey as villain Ma-Ma, there are still chances of creating a sequel, as a huge fan base is demanding for it.

Karl Urban also want to work on Dredd’s sequel. Now the fans have launched a petition phase to collect votes in favor of the sequel. At the Emerald City Comic-Con, Karl Urban requested a large number of fans they should sign petition and like official Facebook page of the film in order to follow-up to 2012's grimy comic book adaptation. The 41-year-old star Urban, who is these days enjoying the last qualifying position on TV show “Almost Human” and can be substituted by another, could use a career improvement – while we still have to wait Years for the next Star Trek installment.

Undoubtedly, the actual issue here is the financial plan. According to various reports, Dredd’s total budget was almost $50 million, but it earned just $35 million throughout the world. Some reports show that Dredd grabbed anothER $17 million on Blu-ray and DVD, but it is yet not enough to provide a break-point.

When we see such figures, it seems that the sequel is not going to happen. It is important to note that Judge Dredd comes with a well-off history in pop culture, AND the today’s movies yielded mainly constructive reviews. In such scenario, it's easy to observe why fans are signing petition for a follow-up. But if you see through the eyes of a businessman, you will have to admit that the follow-up offers low profit, as $50 million is not enough.

If the producers lower the budget, they will almost certainly lose Urban, which means they lose a wide range of diehard fans. All in all, an actual and expensive Dredd 2 is something we want to watch, mainly with a rumbling Urban as the Judge Dredd.

So, what are your views about it? Do you want sequel of “Dredd”?
