The Girl on Fire – Jennifer Lawrence – is announced the Entertainer of the Year 2013

2013 turned out to be one hell of a year for young 23 years-old actress Jennifer Lawrence. At the start of the year, she grabbed the Oscar for Best Actress in a leading role for her performance in David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook. It was her first win, but not the first nomination. In the summer, she secured the role of shape-shifting Mystique in Bryan Singer's “X-Men: Days of Future Past” that is set to release in next year and is anticipated to be one of the best superhero movies ever made. In the fall, she emerged as most prominent celebrity with not only the smash hit launch of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, but also David O. Russell's Crime Thriller “American Hustle”, which has put her back in Academy Awards gossips. Her back-to-back achievements do not end here. Now she has been declared as Entertainer of the Year 2013 by the Associated Press.

Associated Press conducted an annual survey through its newspaper, media associates and contributors, asking a question, "Who had the most influence on entertainment and culture in 2013?" Lawrence got 15 votes and topped the queen of twerk Miley Cyrus by only one vote, while Netflix got 3rd position with 13 votes. The most watched and favorite TV series Breaking Bad was at 4th position with 10 votes, while Justin Timberlake claimed 5th place. The other nominated celebrities whom Lawrence edged out in this competition are Betty White, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Tina Fey, and Adele. Stephen Colbert is the only male winner in 7 years.

The beautiful and talented girl Lawrence, who appeared on cinema screen in 2010 with a compelling performance in the film Winter's Bone, was also a fashion icon in 2013 with electronic as well as social media networks abuzz with her pixie haircut and stylish outfits. Her performance in Silver Linings Playbook was hugely admired and she greatly deserved Academy Award win as per many critics and viewers.

Her greatest time in the spotlight this year has obviously been her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which is one of the highest rated movies of the year and did a huge business at the box office, making $765 million worldwide so far. Then there is Oscar expectant American Hustle in which she played a role of a separated wife.

Her performance in X-Men: Future Past will be very crucial for her career success in 2014. Besides, she also has the film Serena (with Bradley Cooper once again) and The Hunger Games Sequel. So, I think it wouldn’t be a big surprise if she wins the AP Entertainer of the Year 2014 again.

What you have to say about it?
