This past week was marred by the death of Paul Walker, a talented actor known for his co-starring role in the “Fast and Furious” movie franchise. His family has expressed their gratitude for the support of the public and his fans after the car accident that took his life.
His family is keeping Walker’s memory alive by directing donations in his honor to his charity, Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW). A statement on the late actor’s Facebook page was released on Monday, December 2, that reads in part:
"Paul Walker's family appreciates the outpouring of love and goodwill from his many fans and friends. They have asked, in lieu of flowers or other gifts, that donations please be made to Paul's charity Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW). Donations can easily be made through their website at http://www.ROWW.org/."
The statement continued: "It's comforting for them to know that the son, brother, and father they love so much is equally adored, respected, and appreciated by so many. Paul founded the organization with the genuine desire to help others, and it's important to his family to keep his memory alive through ROWW."
40 year old Walker and his friend, Roger Rodas, passed away in a car crash on Saturday, November 30. He had just co-hosted a charity event for ROWW to raise funds for supporting victims of the typhoon in the Philippines. Although police say the likely cause of the crash was speed, they are investigating the cause of the fatal accident.
Walker leaves behind his mother Cheryl Walker, father Paul Walker III, sister Ashley, brothers Caleb and Cody, and his teenage daughter Meadow. According to Walker’s father, "Meadow is taking it really tough. "[But] she has family around her and some very, very loving friends. They're all close. There's a lot of hugging, a lot of hand-holding."
